WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA - 17 March 2026 - Telecom Namibia and PowerCom successfully hosted the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Honorable Emma Theofelus, for a high-level strategic engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration in support of Namibia’s national digital transformation agenda, yesterday, Monday, 16 March 2026.
This engagement, held at 14h00, provided an essential platform for the Minister to engage directly with the Board of Directors, Executive Management, and Staff of both Telecom Namibia and PowerCom. It provided an opportunity for the Minister to gain direct insight into operational progress, sector challenges, and strategic priorities driving the country’s ICT landscape,
Speaking during the engagement, Minister Theofelus emphasized the critical role of effective infrastructure, policy alignment, and collaborative investment in advancing national connectivity.
Key highlights of the engagement included a direct dialogue through an open session where staff members and leadership shared insights with the Ministry regarding operational successes and challenges, with a particular emphasis on the growing concerns regarding cable theft and its disruptive impact on national services. The session also featured focused discussions on strategic alignment to ensure Telecom Namibia and PowerCom continue to coordinate their corporate strategies with the national digital agenda. Furthermore, the session included a review of infrastructure synergy, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the two entities to ensure robust connectivity for all Namibians.
“Today’s engagement with the Honorable Minister was both productive and truly inspiring,” said Telecom Namibia Board Vice Chairperson, Mr Rowan Kleintjes. “Having the Ministry’s leadership present to hear directly from our teams reinforces the importance of the work we do in connecting our nation and driving economic growth through technology.”
Ms. Eldorette Harmse, Chairperson of the PowerCom Board, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks, echoed the sentiment: “We value the Minister’s visit as a clear signal of support for the critical infrastructure that powers our digital economy.
