Windhoek, Namibia – 9 June 2026 – Telecom Namibia wishes to assure its customers, employees, business partners, investors, Government, regulators and the Namibian public that the Company has commenced a comprehensive strategic transformation and restructuring programme aimed at strengthening customer experience, improving operational performance, enhancing competitiveness and securing the long-term sustainability of Namibia's national telecommunications infrastructure.

As part of this initiative, Telecom Namibia has appointed Synercap Capital to undertake an extensive strategic review and transformation programme that will support the Company's evolution in a rapidly changing digital economy.

The programme goes beyond a traditional business review and includes a comprehensive assessment of Telecom Namibia's organisational structure, infrastructure assets, operational model and financial position. The assignment will further benchmark international telecommunications transformation models and identify lessons applicable to Namibia's telecommunications sector.

The work will be undertaken through several strategic phases, including:

  • A baseline assessment of Telecom Namibia's infrastructure assets, operations, and financial position;
  • International benchmarking and case-study analysis of telecommunications operators that have successfully transformed their business models and separated infrastructure operations from service delivery businesses;
  • Stakeholder consultations with Government, regulators, employees, customers, investors, industry participants, and other key stakeholders;
  • Development of an infrastructure asset transition framework to support future infrastructure-sharing opportunities and improve sector efficiency;
  • Development of a comprehensive Telecom Namibia repositioning strategy focused on innovation, customer experience, digital services, and sustainable growth;
  • A detailed financial and economic analysis to ensure the long-term commercial sustainability of Telecom Namibia and any future infrastructure arrangements; and
  • A comprehensive implementation roadmap, risk management framework and change management programme.

Importantly, one of the key objectives of the programme is the development of a Telecom Namibia Transformation and Repositioning Strategy that will guide the Company's transition from a traditional infrastructure-focused telecommunications operator into a modern, service-oriented digital communications company.

The strategy will specifically examine:

  • Product portfolio optimisation and innovation;
  • Customer experience improvement initiatives;
  • Brand repositioning and market development;
  • New pricing and monetisation models;
  • Modernisation of sales and distribution channels;
  • Internal organisational transformation and workforce planning;
  • Enhanced competitiveness within a rapidly evolving telecommunications market; and
  • New digital growth opportunities beyond traditional telecommunications services.

Telecom Namibia acknowledges the concerns expressed by customers regarding service challenges experienced in some parts of the network. The Company recognises that customer expectations continue to evolve and that service excellence remains its highest priority.

The transformation programme therefore places significant emphasis on improving customer experience, strengthening operational efficiency, modernising service delivery processes and ensuring that future investments are aligned to customer needs.

Customers are assured that:

  • Telecom Namibia remains fully operational and committed to serving all customers;
  • Existing services and customer agreements remain unaffected;
  • Network modernisation projects and infrastructure investments will continue;
  • Customer service improvement initiatives remain a priority;
  • Employees will continue to support customers throughout the transformation process; and
  • The transformation programme is designed to strengthen, not disrupt, Telecom Namibia's ability to serve Namibia.

The programme will also include a comprehensive financial sustainability assessment with long-term revenue, cash flow, funding, balance sheet and profitability projections to ensure that Telecom Namibia remains financially resilient and capable of supporting Namibia's national connectivity objectives well into the future.

Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, Chief Executive Officer of Telecom Namibia, said:

"Telecommunications globally is undergoing unprecedented change. Customer expectations, technology and market dynamics are evolving rapidly. Telecom Namibia is therefore taking proactive steps to transform our business, improve customer experience, strengthen operational performance and position the Company for sustainable growth. This programme is ultimately about building a stronger Telecom Namibia that is better equipped to serve our customers, support national development and compete successfully in the digital economy."

Telecom Namibia remains committed to transparency throughout the process and will provide updates to stakeholders as major milestones are achieved.

The Company thanks its customers, employees, Government, regulators, partners and stakeholders for their continued support as it undertakes this important transformation journey.
