Windhoek, Namibia – 31 July 2025 – Telecom Namibia marked its 33rd anniversary with a heartfelt celebration at the Katutura Old Age Home, reaffirming its commitment to community upliftment and intergenerational connection. The event, held on 31 July 2025, saw members of Telecom Namibia's Executive Committee and staff delivering essential food items and goods, sharing a day of joy and solidarity with the home's residents.

The celebration underscored Telecom Namibia's belief that true connection extends beyond telecommunications infrastructure to encompass human connection and social responsibility.

Under the anniversary theme "Come Run with Us @ 33", Telecom Namibia invites the public and communities to join in a symbolic journey of unity, connection, and progress. This theme speaks to the company’s continued commitment to move forward hand in hand with all Namibians, young and old, while recognising the wisdom and strength of those who came before us. The visit to Katutura Old Age Home embodies this spirit, reinforcing the idea that no one gets left behind as we run together into the future.

The handover forms part of Telecom Namibia’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at giving back to the community and honouring the elderly for their invaluable contribution to the country’s growth and heritage. Katutura Old Age Home currently accommodates 22 elderly residents, who are cared for by a dedicated and compassionate team of caregivers. The support extended by Telecom Namibia is intended not only to meet some of the home’s immediate needs but also to bring comfort and warmth during the winter season.

Mr. James Kalundu, Manager – Social Welfare Department, City of Windhoek, extended a warm welcome to Telecom Namibia, stating, "We were delighted to welcome Telecom Namibia to the Katutura Old Age Home and are very grateful for their generous contribution as a corporate entity. We sincerely hope that other corporates will follow suit and join us in supporting our elderly community."

"Our 33rd anniversary is more than just a milestone; it's a powerful reminder of our responsibility to the community that has supported us for over three decades," stated Mr Calvin Muniswaswa, Acting TN Chief Executive Officer. "We chose to celebrate here, with the elders whose wisdom, strength, and sacrifices laid the foundation for Namibia’s progress. They are the living libraries of our culture and resilience, and it is our privilege to honor them."

Beyond the immediate provision of goods, Telecom Namibia expressed its long-term vision to bridge the digital divide for seniors. The company is actively exploring initiatives to digitally empower elders, ensuring they remain connected with loved ones, access services, and participate fully in Namibia's digital future.

"While today focuses on essentials, we hope that this is the beginning of a deeper relationship," Mr Muniswaswa added. "We envision a future where our elders are not only respected but digitally empowered, and steps like today's celebration bring us closer to that reality."

The donation includes essential food parcels aimed at improving the wellbeing of the residents and reminding them that they are cherished and remembered. Telecom Namibia remains committed to fostering social change and improving the quality of life of vulnerable groups across the country. Telecom Namibia extends its sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of Katutura Old Age Home for allowing the company to share this significant occasion. The company is grateful to have spent its 33rd anniversary where it matters most: with the people who built the nation.
