Windhoek, Namibia – 7 November 2024 – Telecom Namibia is concerned by the inaccuracies in an article published by the Windhoek Observer on 6 November 2024, titled "Telecom Continues to Make Losses.
The article's introduction states that "Telecom Namibia made a loss of N$12.3 million before tax in the 2022/23 fiscal year, compared to a profit of N$51.9 million in the previous year," citing the NPTH Annual Report for 2022/23 as the source. Further, the article states that "The company reported a loss of N$1.2 billion in 2021/22, attributing this to outdated and redundant billing systems affecting revenue collection and overall profitability."
However, the referenced claim of a N$1.2 billion loss in 2021/22 does not appear in the NPTH Annual Report. Although the report was cited as a source, Telecom Namibia was not contacted to confirm or verify these figures.
Telecom Namibia clarifies that the company has not reported a loss of N$1.2 billion in any financial year. For accurate financial information, Telecom Namibia’s published financial reports are accessible on its official website.
