Elombe, 7 May 2024 - Telecom Namibia is proud to announce its recent donation of Care Packs, including essential sanitary supplies, to Elombe Combined School (Oshikoto Region) on May 6th, 2024.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education's program to ensure uninterrupted education for girls during their menstrual cycles. Access to sanitary pads is critical for promoting hygiene, reducing absenteeism, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Mr. Junias Kalimbo, Telecom Namibia Senior Manager: Regional Technical Operations, presented the Care Packs during a special ceremony at the school. The ceremony highlighted Telecom Namibia's commitment to corporate social responsibility and its belief in the transformative power of education. "Education unlocks potential and empowers individuals," stated Mr. Kalimbo. "By providing these Care Packs, we aim to alleviate challenges faced by young girls and ensure they can pursue their academic goals with confidence."
The donation is part of Telecom Namibia's "Sharing is Caring" campaign. This campaign seeks to raise public awareness regarding menstrual hygiene and eliminate the stigma often associated with it.
"Menstrual hygiene is not simply a personal concern; it's a societal issue," Mr. Kalimbo emphasized. "Through the 'Sharing is Caring' campaign, we aim to foster open dialogue and encourage collective action."
Telecom Namibia invites the public to join its efforts by donating sanitary towel packs at any Telecom Namibia teleshop or office nationwide.
Together, we can create a supportive environment that empowers girls and fosters a brighter future for all.
