Following the passing of Namibia's beloved President, Dr Hage Geingob, various industries stepped forward to support the Namibian Government during this time of national mourning. Telecom Namibia played a vital role by honoring requests for internet connectivity at key locations across Windhoek and other regions.
Telecom Namibia proudly provided a dedicated 200Mbps BizLink internet connection at Heroes Acre, facilitating the live streaming of memorial services and the funeral to a global audience. This robust connection empowered the National Broadcaster (NBC) to deliver high-quality coverage of the ceremony, ensuring all Namibians could participate in honoring their President.
Telecom Namibia deployed essential resources to various locations:
- Heroes Acre: 200Mbps dedicated internet (existing equipment)
- MICT Information Centre: 100Mbps dedicated internet (existing equipment)
- Casa Rosalia: 20Mbps dedicated internet (New Connection)
- Independence Stadium: 100Mbps MPLS connection from Nampol HQ (existing equipment)
- Governor of Otjozondjupa's event at Mokati Stadium, Otjiwarongo: 20Mbps broadband internet
- Governor of Kavango East's event at Rundu Sports Stadium, Rundu: 20Mbps broadband internet + 2 direct telephone lines
Through these efforts, Telecom Namibia contributed close to N$300,000 towards ensuring seamless communication and information sharing during this critical period.
