Windhoek, 31 January – Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to education, Telecom Namibia has joined forces with OneAfrica's LearnOnOne initiative by providing a N$120 000 broadcast sponsorship for school lessons on the platform.

LearnOnOne, a pioneering educational platform delivering supplementary education through broadcast television to Namibian learners, announced the sponsorship in collaboration with Telecom Namibia. The joint commitment will ensure the continuous airing of recorded school lessons and educational content every weekday on LearnOnOne throughout 2024.

Stefan Hugo, CEO of OneAfrica, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are humbly thankful to Telecom for joining hands with us in LearnOnOne’s quest to support Namibian learners with free extra classes on TV. We believe that this is the start of an impactful partnership harnessing the power of technology and media to make quality education accessible to learners across the country."

Telecom Namibia representative, Ndapewa Neshila emphasised the importance of access to education in the digital age. "Access to quality education remains a challenge for many Namibians. This is where LearnOnOne shines. By leveraging OneAfrica’s reach, LearnOnOne transcends geographical and financial barriers, bringing valuable learning opportunities directly into the homes of Namibians. This aligns perfectly with Telecom Namibia's commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that everyone has the chance to learn, grow and prosper.”

Neshila encouraged parents and guardians to play a role in promoting the use of LearnOnOne content among learners. “After all, education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world, as Nelson Mandela once wisely said.”

The official handover ceremony, symbolising Telecom Namibia's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, happened this morning at TribeFire Studios in Windhoek.
