Grandmother Sarah Kambonde is over-joyed with her gift from Telecom Namibia which was handed over by Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Oiva Angula during an early Independence Day party for senior citizens at the Katutura Old age Home today.

As part of its Warm-a-Heart charity campaign, Telecom Namibia hosted an early Independence Day party for senior citizens at the Katutura Old Age Home on 16 March 2011.

Under a celebratory atmosphere, the senior citizens were provided with a scrumptious meal while being entertained with music.

The senior citizens also received an Independence Day goody bag that contained sweets, chocolate, biscuits, dried fruit and juice.

Telecom Namibia also handed over clothing items and boxes of foodstuffs collected from employees during the Warm-a-Heart campaign.

Senior Manager of Corporate Communications & Public Relations Oiva Angula commended Telecom Namibia employees for their efforts.

Telecom Namibia employees shone in their charity efforts which made it possible for us to donate a lot of food items to Baby Haven and Family Hope Services in Katutura recently. Today we are handing over clothing items and gift bags to our elderly citizens at the Katutura Old Age Home as Independence Day nears, Agula said.

We really appreciate the assistance you gave us today. You have earned the respect from our management and especially our elderly inhabitants, said Rukoro.

All these charitable gestures of our employees show that we are committed to our corporate values of care and mutual respect, he added.

A group of ten Telecom Namibia volunteers assisted with the preparations, serving and socializing with the elderly. This is indeed a wonderful experience for us as senior citizens, said David Kambalala, a resident of the home.

Caretaker of the facility Martha Rukoro thanked Telecom Namibia for its kind gesture.>She added that the food and clothing will be distributed equally amongst the inhabitants of the home while the kitchen has been stocked up for staff to prepare meals for the elderly.
