Telecom Namibia joined the organisers and other sponsors on 31 July 2019 to launch the prestigious annual Namibian Businesswoman Award.
Telecom Namibia has been a sponsor of the Businesswomen Awards since 2005. The 19th Namibian Businesswoman of the Year will be announced at a Gala Banquet on 16 October 2019. Winners were announced annually and since 2007 winners are announced every two years.
Speaking at the launch of the Award, Telecom Namibia’s Head: Corporate Communication & Public Relations Nomvula Kondombolo-Kambinda said: “Telecom Namibia has injected a significant amount in the project over the years and this has helped in creating awareness of the event, as well as building capacity and confidence among Namibian women.”
“Telecom Namibia’s involvement in the Awards has been intentional and consistent over the years. Today we can proudly say, the Awards have yielded the desired results. Not only have we seen women of calibre clinch the coveted Award, but these women have gone on to occupy executive positions at major corporates while inspiring young and old across the country,” Kondombolo-Kambinda said.
“Through Telecom Namibia’s involvement and provision of the required funding, the project was able to highlight the value women bring to the boardroom,” she added.
Organiser of the Businesswoman Award, Desèré Lundon-Muller said: “With the Award we aim to raise awareness for equal opportunity, to provide a platform for decision-makers to recognize and promote the status of women and to promote the creation of small and medium businesses in Namibia. This prestigious event gives recognition to the innovation, perseverance and creativity of the women who have achieved success. Its aim is to reward and encourage high quality businesswomen and entrepreneurs for their excellence so as to showcase role models and honour those who form the core of economic growth and contribute to the wellbeing of our society.”
Lundon-Muller said winners in four different categories are announced with an overall winner announced as Namibian Businesswoman of the Year.
