Telecom Namibia’s mobile business, tn mobile, has extended its 3G+ and 4G (LTE) based mobile network to Tsumeb in the Oshikoto region.

Overall tn mobile’s 3G+ and 4G LTE network is now available in 10 major towns across the country. Towns covered by the same network are the capital city of Windhoek and surrounding areas, as well as Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Langstrand and Henties Bay in the Erongo Region. Other towns are Ondangwa, Ongwediva and Oshakati in Oshana Region, as well as Ohangwena and Oshikango in Ohangwena Region.

Omuthiya, the regional capital of Oshikoto Region, was connected to tn mobile’s 3G+ service on 20 March this year.

It is worth pointing out that four new 4G LTE and six new 3G+ sites will be commissioned by the second week of April this year.

Streaming, downloading movies and music, video conferencing and browsing the net should all be faster on 4G and 3G+. tn mobile’s 4G LTE services provides speeds of up to 100 Mbps, while its 3G+ network provides peak speeds of up to 21 Mbps using the High Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+) standard.

Our 3G+ and 4G rollout is continuing at an industry-leading pace, reaching more and more people in places right across Namibia. We are connecting major towns to make sure that consumers and businesses have 3G+ and 4G where they live and where they work. As well as expanding our 3G+ and 4G network into new areas, our teams are switching on new 4G sites in our existing 4G towns to make the tn mobile network experience even better.

tn mobile’s investment in 3G and 4G LTE technologies to enhance the mobile network is a positive development for Namibia as the new entity starts to play its national role in the development of the telecom sector in the country. It is an encouraging sign of tn mobile's ongoing commitment to making new and better technologies available to drive growth and vibrancy in our communities.
